A lot of people say racism is still alive. I never believed much of that statement because I've never experienced an act of prejudice. I have friends of different ethnicities and we have always gotten along, without any mention that we were "different". Today, my perception change about racism being somewhat extinct. This woman had the NERVE to call "me" a -Nigger-! I was in shock and I was immediately pissed off. Considering I have never been called that, I didn't know how to respond. So I just removed myself from the situation. I took a deep breath and told myself that I couldn't allow that woman's disrespectful slur get to me because I know exactly who I am, where I came from, and where I'm going. My ancestors paid the price so I wouldn't have to. And I will never be anyone's -Nigger-.
